After exploring South Dakota (Sioux Falls, Badlands, Deadwood, Wall Drug, Mount Rushmore) we continued west into Wyoming. Our first stop was Devils Tower, our nation’s first national monument. This rock formation was considered sacred by Native Americans, and I can certainly see why. A lone tower of rock standing high on a hill; there’s really nothing else like it. We took some time to walk the Tower Trail, a 1.3 mile circumferential path that lets you see Devils Tower from all angles, and it was well worth it. This is a one of my favorite spots in the western US.
