Whereas some trips to the outdoors are about the challenge of reaching a peak or staying out for several days, this trip to Lake Vesuvius in southern Ohio was simply about mentally recharging, taking advantage of the neurochemically beneficial effects of nature. I had backpacked this route a couple of years prior (although it’s short enough to be completed as a day hike) and the lakeshore scenery with dense greenery provided the perfect atmosphere for such a trip.
