INTRODUCTION

As always, you can view the photographic narrative for this story below. What is a photographic narrative?

After exploring the Kona region to our heart’s content, we began venturing further south on The Big Island. Our first adventure in this area was a hike to Papakōlea Green Sand Beach, one of only four green sand beaches in the world. After driving back to Kona to stay the night, the next day we stopped for breakfast at The Coffee Shack before visiting Pu’uhonua O Honaunau National Historical Park, and then rounding the island’s southern bend to each lunch at Punaluʻu Bake shop and take an stroll along Punalu’u Black Sand Beach. From here, we continued Northeast to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, detailed in the next post.
