INTRODUCTION
As always, you can view the photographic narrative for this story below. What is a photographic narrative?
Living in Tucson makes traveling throughout the southwest relatively easy for me, which is one of the big reasons I moved here in the first place. On the first day of this series of adventures, I left my house at around 3am to drive about six hours north to Las Vegas where my friend Weston was flying into given its relatively central location to all of the travel we’d be doing and the availability of nonstop flights. After picking him up in the early morning, we set out toward the Grand Canyon where we’d be hiking the next day. Along the way, we stopped for breakfast in Kingman, AZ and ate at Mr D’z Route 66 Diner (probably one of my favorites) and moseyed about the town for a bit. We continued northwest and arrived at the Grand Canyon, taking some time to hike along the South Rim and take in its beauty. Dinner was at the classic Tusayan stop We Cook Pizza and Pasta (the name really says it all). After a quick stop at the Tusayan General Store to get some trail food for the next day, we checked into the Red Feather Lodge and got a good night’s sleep.
